Note that to enter this cave, you must have all three Gauldur Fragments, as well as the Ivory Dragon Claw from Folgunthur, as part of the Forbidden Legend quest, started by reading the Lost Legends book.

Walkthrough
As you enter the cave, you can find the Emerald Dragon Claw on a pedestal along with a note next to a dead adventurer.
Check the water surrounding the pedestal for an adept locked chest full of loot. There is another chest on a ledge near the first dragon claw door - but you may need Whirlwind Sprint to reach it.
Further up the path is a claw door, which can be unlocked using the combination inscribed on the palm of the Emerald Claw:
Bear
Whale
Snake
Inside is yet another claw door, this time using the combination of the Ivory Dragon Claw:
Hawk
Hawk
Dragon
Placing the quest fragments on the altar will cause the three spirits to appear and challenge you. Defeat them to complete the quest and get to a boss chest of items and gold.
At Reachwater rock the first door uses the Emerald Dragon Claw and the order of the glyphs from top to bottom is bear, whale, snake. The second door uses the Ivory Claw and the order from top to bottom is hawk, hawk, dragon. Anyone who tells you that a different claw is required is plain wrong.
Examine the claw in your inventory. Outer ring is BEAR, middle ring was BUG, and inner ring was BIRD (aka OWL). Set the door rings appropriately. Then you "use" the claw (activate the plate in the middle, the claw automatically inserts and turns...) then it changed to 3 Birds (Owls...) and the door opened.
Follow the corridor through the now open four doors to a second puzzle door. This door is opened using the ivory dragon claw found in Folgunthur during the quest; the correct combination is Eagle—Eagle—Dragon. This door is protected by a poisoned dart trap, which shoots from either side after incorrect combinations.
At the entrance of Reachwater Rock there is a door that requires a "three animal" combination to enter. The solution advocated in most places is "bear whale snake." This makes sense as the correct solution, because that's the three animals depicted on the bottom of the emerald dragon claw.
This claw is found in the remains of Daynas Valen while investigating the Gauldur Legend in Folgunthur and is used to open a door leading to Folgunthur Crypt, two treasures rooms, as well as a door at Reachwater Rock.
With the Diamond Claw acquired, players can reposition the rings on the door so the top ring displays a fox symbol, the central ring displays a butterfly symbol, and the lower ring displays a dragon symbol.
There you'll see the symbols you need to match - a Bear, a Butterfly and an Owl, going from top to bottom. Set these as the Outer Ring, Middle Ring and Inner Ring respectively, then activate the Keyhole below to open the door.
With the Diamond Claw acquired, players can reposition the rings on the door so the top ring displays a fox symbol, the central ring displays a butterfly symbol, and the lower ring displays a dragon symbol.
