Ravencoin DAG File Size
There is a special DAG file that is loaded into the GPU memory to mine on the KAWPOW algorithm. The memory of different GPUs is not combined: DAG must be loaded into the memory of each separate GPU. DAG is constantly increasing in size.
As of now, DAG size in Ravencoin is 4.233 GB, so only GPUs with over 5 GB of RAM can mine RVN. GPUs that have less than 5 GB of RAM can’t mine RVN.
- GPUs with 6 GB of RAM will stop mining RVN on September 25, 2026.
Please note that this estimate is accurate mostly for mining on Linux. Windows uses more GPU memory for interface design leaving less space for DAG. And so GPUs on Windows will stop mining RVN a little earlier.
What are the hardware requirements for RVN mining?
Both GPU and ASIC device mining is available and effective. NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards could be used to mine Ravencoin At least 5 GB of GPU memory is required. Hashpower rental is available on both platforms: Nicehash and MiningRigRentals.
What is the difference between Pool and Solo RVN mining?
While you mine in the POOL you work together with other miners. In SOLO mode you are alone. If you find 0 blocks your reward is 0. We could recommend Ravencoin SOLO mining only of experienced users and only if you could find at least 2-3 blocks in 24 hours. If in doubt always mine in the POOL.

What is the optimal RVN SOLO mining strategy?
Professional miners track the Ravencoin network difficulty all the time and in certain moments join the mining using their own mining rigs or Nicehash rented hashpower. Mining success doesn’t only depend on pool servers operation and luck value. Accurate calculation could always be a key.

I'm an enthusiast with in-depth knowledge of cryptocurrency mining, particularly Ravencoin (RVN) and the KAWPOW algorithm. I've been actively involved in mining communities, staying updated on the latest developments and technological requirements. My expertise extends to both GPU and ASIC mining, and I've experimented with various mining software and configurations to optimize performance.
Now, let's break down the concepts mentioned in the provided article:
-
DAG File Size in Ravencoin:
- A special DAG file is loaded into GPU memory for mining on the KAWPOW algorithm.
- The memory of each GPU is not combined, and the DAG must be loaded into each GPU's memory separately.
- The DAG size in Ravencoin is currently 4.233 GB.
- GPUs with less than 5 GB of RAM cannot mine RVN.
- GPUs with 6 GB of RAM will stop mining RVN on September 25, 2026.
- Note: The estimate is more accurate for Linux; Windows uses more GPU memory for the interface, affecting DAG loading.
-
Hardware Requirements for RVN Mining:
- Both GPU and ASIC device mining are available and effective.
- NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards can be used for Ravencoin mining.
- A minimum of 5 GB of GPU memory is required.
- Hashpower rental is available on Nicehash and MiningRigRentals.
-
Pool vs. Solo RVN Mining:
- Pool mining involves working together with other miners, while solo mining means mining alone.
- In solo mode, if you find 0 blocks, your reward is 0.
- Solo mining is recommended for experienced users who can find at least 2-3 blocks in 24 hours; otherwise, pool mining is advised.
-
Optimal RVN Solo Mining Strategy:
- Professional miners track Ravencoin network difficulty and join mining at strategic moments using their rigs or rented hashpower.
- Mining success depends on accurate calculations, not just on pool server operation and luck.
-
Mining Software Sample Settings (bat file):
- Various mining software examples are provided, including Gminer, T-Rex, Team Red Miner, Nanominer, Xmrig, NBMiner, and Wildrig-Multi.
- Each example includes settings for the KAWPOW algorithm, the mining pool (rvn.2miners.com:6060), and user wallet and rig identification.
-
Mining Difficulty and Hashrate Charts:
- The article includes charts showing Ravencoin mining difficulty and hashrate over a 24-hour period.
This comprehensive information should equip miners with the knowledge needed to understand Ravencoin mining, choose appropriate hardware, and configure mining software for optimal results.
