In 2024, the average job receives 120+ applications. And it takes ~160 applications to land a job. Here's a simple but highly effective LinkedIn tip to give you an edge:Step 1: Start a 'Blank Search'↳ Click into the LinkedIn search bar.↳ Hit enter without typing anything. ↳ This action runs a blank search. This gives you the extensive filters designed to refine your search.Step 2: Select 'Posts' and 'Apply Filters'↳ Choose the "Posts" option to see shared content.↳ Click "All Filters," then filter by "Author" & "Company."↳ Specify the target companies you're interested in.This narrows the search to posts made by individuals associated with your target companies.Step 3: Identify Active Professionals↳ Examine the filtered posts to find active authors.↳ You're looking for signs of consistency activity, like:→ Updates→ Content sharing→ Insightful commentsThis shows you who's active on the platform → greater chance they'll respond to you!Step 4: Focus on Specific Categories↳ Target profiles with "Recruiter" in their job title ↳ Or an "I'm hiring" cover image.↳ Lookout for people who just joined or in new roles. This shows you who specifically you should be engaging directly with. The last one is gold → people who just joined. They can offer valuable application insights.Their experience can guide you effectively.Final ThoughtsUsing the 'Blank Search' on LinkedIn not just a trick, It's a strategic way to network & find opportunities. Using these filters, is not just narrowing your search,It's targeting the most active & relevant profiles for you.P.S. What LinkedIn secrets / experiences have you uncovered?[Save this for later]Repost to support your network ♻. Thank you!And follow Previn J. for more.

The quality of your LinkedIn search can make or break your job searchHere’s how to find and network with two essential types of job-fluencers(Did I make up a new word? 😅)1. People in your dream title positions and company(“Sub title 1” OR “Sub title 2” OR “Sub title 3”) AND “Company name”Example: (“Data analytics” OR “Business Analytics” OR “Data Scientist”) AND “Ford”Filter by PeopleYou can filter further by what I call warm filters:a. Connections of Varun Negandhi (my cohort students use this often).b. Level of connectionsc. Geographical aread. Alma materYou can also use the company filter instead of the AND term to add more companies. 2. People who are hiring managers for desired roles“Keyword” AND (Manager OR Supervisor)Example: “Data Analytics” AND (Manager OR Supervisor)Refine further using the People, company, and warm filters I shared above.A great feature of LinkedIn Premium is enabling a filter called “Actively Hiring.”An alternative is to search for: “Hiring” AND “Keyword”Then, filter for posts and further refinement by date posted (to apply early), author industry, and/or author company.***Familiarize yourself with boolean search terms, and your quality of networking will improve significantly because you are targeting the right people from the get-go. If you want recruiters to find you on LinkedIn, then there's one thing you need to do. You need to fill your LinkedIn profile with......keywords!But not any old keywords. Keywords that are SPECIFIC to your profession. Keywords that recruiters are likely to enter into LinkedIn when they search for someone in your profession. Remember that LinkedIn is essentially a search engine. So having profession-specific keywords in your profile means you should rank higher in the search results. And there's a better chance that a recruiter will find your profile and contact you. Now, what sort of keywords should you include in your LinkedIn profile?➡️ Job titles➡️ Profession-specific skills➡️ Computer programs/skillsAnd where should you include those keywords?➡️ Your Headline➡️ Your About section➡️ Your Work Experience sectionAnd remember, to the extent possible, put details and context around those keywords. LinkedIn gives you more space to work with than a resume so take advantage of that fact. LinkedIn gives you 2600 characters in your About section. And 2000 characters for each entry in your Work Experience section. Weave those keywords into a narrative around what you've done and accomplished in your career.-------------So that's how to get discovered by recruiters on LinkedIn. Keywords, keywords, keywords...specific to your profession. -----------✅ Found value in this post? Then share it with others who might benefit...

Finding relevant job postings on LinkedIn can be frustrating at times. 🤦♀️Since I play in the SEO space, I showed a few friends of mine this technique that leveraged the power of Google to find jobs on Linkedin. Far more powerful than using the job board's internal search engine. The outcome = more job postings shown 👌In my example, I've shown how using LI's internal search engine can yield less than ideal results vs using Google's search engine. In this example, only 4 results from the internal search engine versus 292 results from Google. What you'll learn:- Use the right keywords in Google search to find the right jobs- Do a deeper dive into a job board and pull out jobs that the internal search engine may not surface with special terms- Use the job board's internal search engine to fine tune the results- Apply the same tactic to other sites and find more job openingsCaveat:- This is a not a perfect solution. However, I would rather have more data and filter out as necessary versus less data.- Results may depend on how the job description is written. Some JD's are not very good and some of them are great. Great JD's get great candidates.- ALERT: shameless self promotion on a free tool with no limits (https://resumegenerator.io) to help friends write customized resumes and cover letters at scale and provide resume feedback. Know what recruiters think of your resume before you submit. Please share and repost!
