Ash being Liko's father was never a good theory for his return, and Pokémon Horizons has finally debunked it. Episode #9 will see the Rising Volt Tacklers finally landing in Paldea, and while there, Liko will reunite with her father, Alex.

His absence is likely because the story being told doesn't need Ash to have a visible father. So the writers felt it was better to give Delia more screen time (and thus character development) rather than splitting that time across two blander characters.

Liko Has No Such Counterpart as He Does

Ash Ketchum is partially based on the player character Red's physical appearance from those games, particularly with the iconic hat and jacket, although they are not the same character in the anime.

Contrary to popular speculation, it has been confirmed that our very own, beloved Ash Ketchum, the long-standing main character of the Pokemon series, is not Liko's father, debunking a widely circulated fan theory.

Liko was born in the Kanto region, and lived there with her parents, Alex and Lucca, for a few years. At some point, they moved to the Paldea region — with Liko then growing up in Cabo Poco.

Who is Ash's father? The answer is we don't know. The Pokemon anime have never formally introduced Ash's father, who is virtually never brought up or referenced. So far, his only “appearance” was getting mentioned by Delia back in episode two, which is how we know Ash has a dad.

But there are a few female characters who have shown interest in Ash throughout the course of the anime with Serena coming to closest with a kiss in the last episode of the X Y & Z series. But the bottom line is Ash is not married and thus has no wife.
