A segmentation method that partly mimics the cognitive-behavioral process used by human subjects to recover motor-temporal information from the image of a handwritten word to detect the parts of the image where the original odometric information is lost or ambiguous and interpret them to finally recover a part of the original temporal information.

This work addresses the trajectory recovery by combining a general graph traversal algorithm with knowledge about the processes involved in human learning of motor skills to perform voluntary and complex movements, and shows that the approach outperforms the existing ones in terms of Root Mean Square Error and Dynamic Time Warping distance.

Experimental results show that the constructed writing sequence using UWM is close to the actual writing sequence, which is due to the availability of the dynamic information, especially thewriting sequence of the strokes.

A Framework Toward Restoration of Writing Order from Single-Stroked Handwriting Image
