- Pay Your Credit Card Bills
Credit Card bill payment is one of the key aspects to keep in mind when using a Credit Card. Since Credit Cards help you make purchases now and settle the payment at a later date, you are essentially borrowing money from the bank. You are required to repay this amount by the end of the billing cycle. The bank offers an interest-free grace period of up to 30-50 days from the date of the transaction.
What is Credit Card bill payment?
If you use a Credit Card regularly, you will get a monthly credit bill or statement. The Credit Card statement includes various details related to your transactions as well as any overdue fees, or interest charges if you have converted any transaction into EMIs or carried forward the outstanding amount.
You can either make the full Credit Card bill payment or pay the minimum required payment, which is around 5% to 10% of the total outstanding balance. Any remaining balance is carried forward to the following month. The bank charges an interest rate on that outstanding amount.
Reasons to pay Credit Card bills on time
It is advisable to settle your credit bill payment before the due date. This helps you avoid accruing interest charges on your subsequent statement. This will help avoid the accumulation of fees and interest charges. The benefits of paying Credit Card dues in full include:
- Your credit score remains high and credit history stays positive
- You avoid penalties and high interest rate charges
- The credit limit on your Credit Card remains high, allowing you to make further transactions as and when required
