OneMain provides personal loans with individual, local service at 1,300 branches nationwide. It also offers an Internet lending program called iLoan®. OneMain Financial has a consumer loan portfolio that totals $8.4 billion.
Founded in 1912 by Alexander Duncan under the name Commercial Credit, the company was a pioneer in the consumer finance industry. In 1916, they began an installment loan program to help people purchase the newly invented automobile.
OneMain Financial was part of Citibank. In 2015, OneMain Financial Holdings, LLC was acquired by Springleaf Holdings, Inc. for $4.25 billion. The DOJ filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Springleaf, forcing it to sell off 127 branches in order for the acquisition to go forward.
In 2016, OneMain sponsors NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler in the No. 1 OneMain Chevrolet.
