Nodle Portal (2024)

The Nodle portal is the most comprehensive solution for interacting with the Nodle chain on a web browser. It is based on Polkadot substrate.

However, it is designed for more advanced users and more complex transitions.

💡

We recommend you use the Nodle Client for basic management of your NODL wallet (like viewing your balance and transactions, and sending NODL tokens and NFTs).

To access the Nodle portal, go to https://nodleprotocol.io. Here’s what it looks like:

Nodle Portal (22)

This is a dashboard view of all your accounts and transactions.

In the Nodle portal, you can create your account, manage your account, send and receive tokens, and define/manage various transactions on the chain as a developer.

On Web Browser

⚠️

Important: Please note that in-browser account creation and storage is NOT secure, and it is done at your own risk. If you’re looking for safer and longer term wallets, then we recommend creating your accounts on the Nodle App or on browser extensions such asPolkadot JS,Ledger,or Talisman.

To create an account on the web browser, follow these steps.

  1. Go to Nodle portal - https://nodleprotocol.io/#/accounts. Select Nodle Mainnet on the top left corner (next to the Nodle logo).
  2. Nodle Portal (23)

  3. Navigate to Settings. Note that this must be done prior to creating an account.
  4. Under the account options section, turn on in-browser account creation and storage. Select the option, “Allow in-browser account storage” as shown below.

    Nodle Portal (24)

    Nodle Portal (25)

    Save your changes.

  5. Navigate to Accounts.
  6. Nodle Portal (26)

  7. Add a new account by clicking on the + button (+ Account). A pop-window appears.
  8. The system displays a mnemonic seed, by default, as shown in the figure here. If required, you can also store the seeds in the “raw” format by selecting the Raw seed option from the Mnemonic drop-down menu. Store the seed safely and confirm the same by selecting the check box at the bottom.

    💡

Note: Select Advanced creation options only if you need to use alternative cryptographic curves for managing your wallet keys. For example, if you are importing your old Nodle App wallet, then you may need to use crypto keys.

    Nodle Portal (27)

  9. Click Next.
  10. Provide account details. Give your account a unique name. Then, enter a strong password.
  11. ⚠️

Important: You must use a lengthy and randomly generated password. We recommend you use a password generator. Manual entry of passwords do not work.

    Nodle Portal (28)

  12. Click Next.
  13. Save your account. On clicking Save, a copy of your mnemonic seed is downloaded to your system automatically.
  14. ⚠️

Important: Save this file in a safe location. This is crucial when restoring or recovering your wallets.

    Nodle Portal (29)

With Polkadot JS

💡

Note: If you check your newly created account onSubscan, it won't show up until you deposit some NODL tokens.

Nodle is built upon Polkadot Substrate, making it compatible with most Polkadot wallets. For this tutorial, we will use the official wallet.

  1. Go to the nodleprotocol.io (Nodle Portal), https://nodleprotocol.io/#/accounts
  2. Nodle Portal (30)

    💡

Note: We recommend using a Chrome-based browser like Chrome or Brave. If you are using Brave (which you should be) please turn off ‘shields’ as it can cause errors.

  3. Make sure you are connecting to the Nodle Chain Mainnet. Sometimes, the wallet will default to another blockchain (as we interoperate with the Polkadot ecosystem) and display “Unknown” as the network. If so, navigate to the top left of your screen and select the Nodle Network from the drop-down menu.
  4. Set up the Polkadot.js extension:
    1. Install the Polkadot-js extension, which is similar to Ethereum’s Metamask, except it doesn't dothis.
    2. Install the chrome extension.
  5. Create an account. Now, go back to the wallet and reload. There may be a popup asking for your permission to connect.
  6. If the Polkadot add-on is not showing, simply click Extensions, and pin to your browser (Then, click the extension to open).
  7. Follow the directions to generate your account, by clicking "+".
  8. Back up your mnemonics. You have generated 12 words. Keep them extremely safe. If you lose these words, all of your funds will be lost. If someone else gets them, they can steal all of your cryptos.
  9. Now that you’ve saved your seed words securely, give your account a name.
  10. Select an appropriate network from the drop-down list. For example, Polkadot Relay Chain or Nodle Parachain.
  11. Add a strong password. You must use a long, randomly generated password (greater than 11 characters).
  12. ⚠️

Important: Ensure you use a password generator or password manager to generate a lengthy password. Manual entry of passwords may not work.

  13. Now you have an account! Finish up.
  14. Close the window by clicking outside it, and reload the page:You’ll be asked to give permission for the webpage to access the Polkadot-js chrome app. Please allow. If you have closed the webpage, you will be asked to enter your password.
  15. You're all set!

On Web Browser

⚠️

Important: The Polkadot.JS extension may have deactivated in-browser storage by default. In this case you have to go into the settings tab in the top bar and change "in-browser account creation" toallowin the account settings section to be able to import your account.

To import your account on the web, do the following:

  1. Once your words have been safely backed up, go to theAccountspage of the nodleprotocol.io (Nodle Portal)https://nodleprotocol.io/#/accounts
  2. Go on the Web UI and clickAdd Account.
  3. Give the account a name, then paste your 12 words undermnemonic seed. (Double-check the spelling is correct, and that there aren't any extra spaces). Finally create apassword(We recommend using a long, randomly generated password stored in a password manager). Don't Click Next just yet!
  4. If you use a legacy wallet, then Open theAdvanced Optionsat the bottom, and select theEdwardscurve.

💡

The Nodle App uses one of the two wallet systems: Legacy or non-Legacy. If you navigate to the screen with your public key by clicking the "Receive" button, the application will indicate whether you are using a Legacy wallet or not. If it does not say anything, you are not using a Legacy wallet.

  1. Now ClickNext, andSave.

With Polkadot JS

To import your account with Polkadot.js, do the following:

  1. Install the Polkadot.js extension to your Chrome browser.
  2. Start adding a new account by clicking the plus button at the top right, then Import account from pre-existing seed.
  3. Enter your 12-word recovery phrase and select Nodle Parachain as a network. You can check your recovery phrase in the Nodle app > Settings > Wallet settings > Recovery phrase.
  4. Enter the account name and create a password.
  5. Open the Nodle Portal > Account to verify that your account has been added.

Importing Ledger Account

Installing from Source

⛔

THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK

💡

Note: If you'd like to install the application from source, you can find the instructionshere. Please note that this is not recommended and you should only proceed if you know what you are doing. Installing a version of the integration without going through Ledger Live may lead to unexpected behaviors. Nodle and Zondax will not be responsible for any issues that may arise from installing the application from source. You are on your own.

Installing from Zondax Hub

You can also use Zondax hub to install the Ledger app on your Ledger hardware device. Go toZondax Huband scroll down to select the Nodle Network. Ensure your hardware device or wallet is connected. If not, click Connect Device on the page.

Click Install and follow the instructions for installing the app.

Exporting Wallet

If you have coins in a Ledger wallet and need to export them to another wallet, you can do so by following the steps given below.

For example, you may want to export to another wallet if you’ve lost your Ledger or the integration isn't up to date.

This process will involve re-importing yourLedger mnemonicsinside Polkadot JS, which we will then use to generate a file importable in other wallets like Talisman or the Polkadot JS extension.

⛔

BY IMPORTING YOUR LEDGER MNEMONICS INTO POLKADOT.JS, THE LEDGER DEVICE WITH THIS KEY IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED AS COLD STORAGE.

⚠️

Important: If you have other holdings on your cold wallet, move them to another wallet prior importing the seed. Once you moved your NODL token, it is advised to set up your Ledger device from scratch and move all your holdings to the new address.

  1. Opennodleprotocol.ioand ensure the Nodle mainnet is selected.
  2. Navigate to theSettingspage in the upper top navigation bar.
  3. In theManage hardware connectionsdropdown, selectAttach Ledger via WebUSB (Chrome, recommended). ClickSave.
  4. Navigate to theAccountspage.
  5. Click the+ Accountbutton.
  6. Enter your seed in theMnemonic seedtext field.
  7. Open theAdvanced creation optionsdropdown.
  8. InKeypair crypto typeselectLedger (ed25519, BIP32 derivation).
  9. In theLedger app type (originated from)field, selectNodle Chain.
  10. TickI have saved my mnemonic seed safelyand clickNext.
  11. Select a name and password for your account and clickNext.
  12. Verify your account details and clickSave.
  13. At this step, a backup file in with a.jsonextension will be downloaded. You can use it to import your Nodle Ledger account with any wallet of your choice that support a restoratiion from a JSON or Keystore file. Alternatively, you can now use your account as a normal account in Polkadot JS / Nodle Protocol.

Claiming Your Tokens

In some cases, you might have a grant of vested coins attached to your account. For instance, this would be the case if you bought some Nodle Cash or participated in the Nodle crowdloan.

💡

Use Nodle Client to Claim TokensWe know how cumbersome it is to use Polkadot.JS to claim your coins or even view your balance. Therefore, we recommend you use the easier Nodle Client interface for claiming your tokens. Simply go to client.nodle.com and click the Unlock button.

⚠️

YOU MUST ALREADY HAVE A WALLETThe instructions below assume that you have either imported or created a wallet already. If not, ensure you create a wallet before proceeding.

  1. Go to the nodleprotocol.io (Nodle Portal). Simply navigate tohttps://nodleprotocol.io/#/accounts. Note: We recommend using a Chrome-based browser like Chrome or Brave. If you are using Brave (which you should be), please disable ‘shields’ as theycan cause errors.
  2. Make sure you are connecting to the Nodle Chain Mainnet. Occasionally, the wallet may default to a different blockchain, as it interoperates with the Polkadot Ecosystem. If so, go to the top left and select the Nodle Network.
  3. Nodle Portal (32)

  4. Go to the extrinsics page. Select Developer > Extrinsics in the top bar.
  5. Nodle Portal (33)

  6. Send the claim transaction.
    1. Under “submit the following extrinsic” select:vesting:
    2. Nodle Portal (34)

    3. UnderaddVestingSchedule(dest, schedule)selectclaim():
    4. Nodle Portal (35)

    5. ClickSubmit Transactionat the bottom right. At this stage, you may need to have a bit more Nodle Cash in your account to pay for the transaction fee. To do this, you can send some Nodle Cash from your Nodle Cash app to your account claiming the tokens. We recommend sending at least 0.01 $NODL.
    6. Sign the transaction (for this, you will need your password).
    7. Now, your tokens are unlocked.
    8. 💡

Please note that only the tokens that have completed the vesting will unlock.
