Google may find your site through our normal web crawl. If you don't want to surface in Google News, you can block access to content on your site without affecting your continued indexing and ranking in Google Search. Search results in Google News
Google News shows relevant results in response to searches. These results come from eligible content we find across the web and automatically identify as news-related. Learn more about how your content might be found and considered eligible for search results.
Having eligible content isn’t a guarantee that content will necessarily rank well on Google News. See the Ranking within Google News page to understand more about how our automated systems work to show relevant results.
The Google News performance report in Search Console is the best way to determine if you have eligible content that’s appearing on Google News.
Top stories
“Top stories” is a section that may appear within Google Search when we detect a search query is news-oriented. We match the search with relevant, quality news content to display. "Top stories" features articles related to the search, and a link to more related articles on the News tab. Content is automatically selected for this feature.
News tab of Search
When users look for news, the News tab of Search filters search results. Users get content related to events in the news. For broader context, the News tab displays more articles than a regular search query.
Publishers are automatically considered for "Top stories" or the News tab of Search. They just need to produce high-quality content and comply with Google News content policies.
Appear in Google News Showcase
In 2020, an online news experience called Google News Showcase launched. This platform helps participating publishers share their expertise and editorial voice through an enhanced storytelling experience. Learn more about Google News Showcase.
