How far back does the National Student Clearinghouse go? ›

It was incorporated in Herndon, Virginia on July 2, 1993.

Trusted & Neutral: The Clearinghouse has served the higher education community as a nonadvocacy third-party agent for 30 years. As their longstanding partner, our participating institutions trust the Clearinghouse to maintain the integrity of their student records on our system and respect their role as data owner.

The Clearinghouse Transcript Center allows secure and convenient electronic exchange of high school transcripts for use in postsecondary admissions, school transfers, and state scholarship evaluations. The Transcript Center is FERPA-certified by iKeepSafe, a leading nonprofit privacy organization.

In person requests are $5 for the first transcript and $1 for each additional transcript ordered at the same time. Online requests are $5 for each individual transcript, in line with how Banner is designed.

HERNDON, VA – (NOVEMBER 30, 2023) – Progress in the national college completion rate remains stalled, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center's latest report. The six-year completion rate for the fall 2017 cohort was 62.2 percent, essentially unchanged since 2015.

National Student Clearinghouse does not provide verification of your grade point average (GPA). A grade point average (GPA) verification must be requested through the Office of the Registrar.

At the Clearinghouse, we verify educational credentials only with the data you provide to us, making it harder for individuals to claim diplomas and degrees they did not earn.

Of the students who started college in the fall of 2022, 76.5% returned in the fall of 2023 — a persistence rate increase of 0.8 percentage points. The national retention rate also rose one percentage point to 68.2%.

The Clearinghouse collects education records, which include both Directory and Non‐Directory Information, from Participating Institutions, education agencies, and other education authorities, under either the school official or directory information exceptions to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”).

Transcripts are produced one to three days after receiving your order. Allow another five to seven days for your transcript to be delivered via United State Postal Service. 2.
