I am finally settling in to 2024,
The first week of 2024 was quiet but things started to really pickup after that,
Upwork has definetly changed throughout the years, very challenging but still love it!
1. Connects are now the life line to getting jobs
2. Your profile / organic reach is less relevant (still some hope - but wont rely on it)
3. Pay to Play with Boost. if you REALLY want a job, it MIGHT be a good idea to boost
4. Numbers game, as long as you have a good profile / reputation / etc, you just submit away.
At the end of all this, if you do a Great Job for clients, get good reviews (public and private) and always do what is right, you can become a successful freelancer, its just a lot of time, hard work and patience.
Some Pointers
1. Take on those smaller jobs, even if they don't make you a fortune! its the way to get you going!
2. Keep clients happy, at any cost (your repiutation is EVERYTHING)
3. Keep learning, no matter what, you may need to piviot, a LOT is changing (look at what AI has done)
4. Submit Proposals, Submit, Submit, and Submit more (This is now the way)
How is your 2024 going so far?
