Mukesh Ambani holds a host of titles: the richest man in India, the richest individual in Asia, the 11th richest person in the world…and the list goes on. The Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, one of India’s largest conglomerates, Ambani has amassed an impressive net worth of $106.9 billion (Rs 915405 crore approximately). So it’s a small wonder that his daily income is five times the size of a top executive’s annual package. And that’s putting it lightly.
In fact, data compiled by Statistica from 2022 had found that an average Indian would require over 17.4 million years and an average salary of $5,000 (Rs 4 lakh) per annum to earn Mukesh Ambani's current fortune.
Given that human beings don’t live for a million years—not yet at least—this particular goal seems a bit… far out. Keeping Up with the Ambanis (new show idea, anyone?) isn’t for the faint-hearted. Mukesh Ambani takes home a capped annual salary of Rs 15 crore per annum, an amount he settled on back in 2009—but it’s the ridiculous amount he’s earning in a single day that adds to his overall wealth.

The Indian business tycoon reportedly earns Rs 163 crore in a single day, according to Live Mint and Jagran Josh. A majority of Ambani’s wealth is derived from his shareholdings in Reliance Industries, which has a dominating presence across industries like petrochemicals, refining, oil and gas exploration, textiles, retail, and telecommunications. Other than this, his real estate assets (which includes Antilia, his lavish home in South Mumbai that’s valued at approximately Rs 15,000 crore) and various other investments add to this significant amount.
Back in 2020, Ambani was earning Rs 90 crore per hour according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List from that year. Another report by Oxfam backed this number, adding that during this same lockdown period, about 24 per cent of Indians were earning Rs 3,000 per month.
