Forgive me if the question has been addressed and I was unable to find it....
I reuse courses extensively (one of the huge benefits to Moodle) but I do some varying. Rather than delete past assignments or quizzes, I would rather hide them as a reminder of what I did in times past.
Are these grades still included in the grade calculations?
I think that they are not, but let's see what others say.
The one thing that I would like to recommend to you is that since the grade book is very important, I always test my grading criteria and Moodle's grade book on my experimental MAMP system. Moodle's grade book is very powerful, but it also takes a while to understand. Experiment and prove it to yourself!

Hi Dan,
It is optional to include them. Go to your course > Grades > Setup then the Course grade settings, tab. In the, Overview report, section you should see, Hide totals if they contain hidden items. You will have three options to pick from. Hide, Show totals excluding hidden items, and Show totals including hidden items.
As Rick mentions, experiment and test things, to make sure the totals are what you expect them to be, as other settings on the same page can REALLY change totals.

Thanks for the help. That setting was what I was missing.
I do a dry run of my grades on a spreadsheet apart from the actual course, so I can check if the two agree. I also make the spreadsheet available to students so they can run "what if" scenarios.
Advice much appreciated.
