How do I toggle preview pane in Windows Explorer? ›

In File Explorer, click on the View tab. In the Panes group, you will see the Preview pane icon. In the screenshot below, the Preview pane in enabled, as seen by the blue background it has and the field on the right: To disable the Preview pane, simply click it once.

Enabling Preview Pane support

Go to Options in Windows File Explorer and under the View tab, you will see a list of Advanced settings. Ensure that Show preview handlers in preview pane is selected in order for the preview pane to display.

In the Preferences dialog box, choose General in the Categories list, and then select the Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer check box. Note: If you don't see the Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer checkbox, update your Acrobat or Acrobat Reader to the latest version.
