Aiden's sister and the core driving force of his journey through Villedor, Mia is one of Dying Light 2's key characters even though she has very little screentime. The majority of what we learn about Mia comes through flashbacks, as Aiden reflects on his time with her while being tested in the GRE facility.
Mia is also part of the GRE trials and is split up from Aiden after a fire breaks out in the lab. He escapes the scene, although cannot find Mia, prompting his mission to track her down years later. His search takes him to Villedor, although he quickly discovers that finding her amongst the rubble of this post-apocalyptic city is more difficult than he imagined.

What Happened to Mia?
So, what actually happened to Mia? Did she perish in the fire? Or did she survive and continue to live amongst the ruins of Villedor?
It's one of the main mysteries you'll be pursuing throughout your time in Dying Light 2 and the answer is only fully revealed during the game's final mission.
During X-13, Waltz drops a huge bombshell, revealing that he's actually Mia's father. He decided to willingly conduct experiments on both her and Aiden when they were young, quickly discovering that Aiden reacted well to his formula. Mia, on the other hand, did not, contracting the virus and falling gravely ill.
Since Aiden fled the lab, Waltz has been attempting to cure Mia, believing X-13 holds the solution to her sickness and seeking out the GRE key as a means of opening it. When Aiden does meet Mia, she's kept alive by a respirator, unable to survive on her own.
Aiden must make a tough decision: does he destroy the missiles heading towards Villedor, saving the city? Or blow up the X-13 facility, dooming Mia in the process? If he picks the latter, he attempts to escape with Mia but she dies hours later. If he picks the former it's unclear what happens to Mia, but it seems she still passes away.
