Metric vs. imperial, different scales, and other considerations

- [Instructor] The two main systems for measuring distances in weight are the imperial system and the metric system. Most countries use the metric system which uses the measuring units such as meters and grams, and adds prefixes like kilo, milli, and centi to count orders of magnitude. In the United States, we use the older imperial system, where things are measured in feet, inches, and pounds. Be sure to check each page of the contract drawings, specifications, and even your quotations in labor unit publications to make sure all of the measuring systems that you are using on the project agree with one another. If you are not using the same systems, or even make a conversion error, things can get off track real fast.
