Oh, to be in the top 1% club. This group has only gotten richer and more powerful, according to Bloomberg, which reveals what it takes to make the exclusive cut in various countries. In the United Arab Emirates, for example, $922,000 is the annual pretax income required to bump you into the 1%. In much of the developed world, by contrast, an income of $200,000 to $300,000 will land you in the top 1%. In America, where income inequality has widened, it takes $488,000 to enter the top 1%.

Ever wonder what it takes to be considered the 1%? My colleague Ben Steverman and I broke down incomes, tax rates, housing and childcare costs for this elite group in countries across the world. In the U.S. it takes about $500,000 per year to enter the top 1% but reaching the top 0.1% now requires an annual income of more than $2 million. The threshold for the top 0.01% is more than $10 million. https://lnkd.in/ebs3NEF

The “top 1%” is the symbol of #wealth and power thanks to a protest movement. What does it take to get into the top 1%? In much of the developed world, an income of $200,000 to $300,000 gets you there. To join the group in the oil-rich UAE requires more than $900,000, or 12x more income than in India. In the US, that number is closer to $500,000. #GlobalWealth #OnePercent
