Is LAMDA hard to get into? ›

Since its inception in 1961, the school has continued this tradition and has become one of the most respected drama schools in the UK.

It is one of a leading group of UK conservatoires and is now one of the largest specialist drama schools in the UK, with a distinguished international teaching staff and an undergraduate and extensive postgraduate population of over 800 students.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

It has a selection of courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, enabling you to specialise in a particular style of acting. The two main courses (and the hardest to get onto) are BA Acting and BA Acting (Musical Theatre).

The BA (Hons) Professional Acting consistently receives over 3,500 applications for the 30 available places, so data at that point in the cycle can be considered significant.

Though LAMDA doesn't have the same ring to it as RADA, these two schools are definitely on equal footing, and it would be a tough choice if you were offered a place at both schools.

LAMDA has been listed alongside other prestigious schools and institutions such as New York University, Yale, Carnegie Mellon, Julliard and Columbia, and is the only school outside of the US to be in included.

At the moment, they train about 800 students per year and have produced some of the world's most notable alumnus. It is actually harder to get into Juilliard than it is to get accepted into Harvard. Like I said, it can't get more prestigious than that.
