Smilegate RPG and Amazon Games' MMORPG Lost Ark is currently one of the most successful MMOs available. While the main draw of Lost Ark is its engaging combat, it also boasts some stunning visuals, an epic story, and a satisfying gameplay loop. Now, the Legion Commander Thaemine has made his entrance into the game, along with what Smilegate has claimed is one of the most challenging raids in the MMO genre — the Thaemine Legion Raid. Despite its difficulty, it appears those who manage to overcome it will be greatly rewarded for their toil.

Lost Ark is one of the most difficult MMOs to date, and that continues to prove itself with the addition of the Thaemine Legion Raid. Thankfully, there are valuable rewards that await those who are committed enough to overcome Thaemine — rewards in the form of the new Gear Transcendence system, which allows players to push their gear to the limit. As Lost Ark is all about its gear grind, conquering Thaemine should be more than worth the effort. Game Rant recently spoke with Amazon Games about the Thaemine Raid and the Gear Transcendence system that comes as a reward for clearing it.

Lost Ark's Transcendence System Explained

Lost Ark's Gear Transcendence system is a new system to the game that serves as the main draw for completing the Thaemine Legion Raid. Unlike other Legion Raids, like Brelshaza and Kakul-Saydon, Smilegate ensured Thaemine would not utilize any mechanics or patterns from other raids, which means players will need plenty of practice if they hope to overcome the challenge. However, the challenge is worth it, thanks to Gear Transcendence. In our interview with Amazon, they gave a brief overview of Gear Transcendence and why seeing the fight with Thaemine through to the end would be worth it.

Gear Transcendence is a new system in which players will be able to tap into an ancient power that has been sealed within ruins in order to improve their gear’s basic effects, granting them increased damage and defense, as well as some special abilities for both DPS and Support playstyles. The crafting materials used in Transcendence will be earned from clearing the new Thaemine Legion Raid. This system can be used over time to build up gear improvements, and will eventually allow players to gain solid jumps in power and defense.

Not only will Gear Transcendence allow players to improve their gear in the way of increasing its stats (Transcendence Level), but gear will also receive new abilities in the process (Transcendence Grade). Once players complete the Thaemine Legion Raid, they will receive a special crafting material called "Dark Fire," which unlocks Gear Transcendence and allows them one attempt at the Transcendence mini-game. During the mini-game, players are shown a set of tiles that they are tasked with breaking within a certain number of turns. The fewer turns they clear out all the tiles, the higher their Transcendence Grade will be for each Transcendence Level. Unfortunately, Dark Fire can only be used individually for each Transcendence Level, so players will need to complete the Thaemine Legion Raid multiple times to see any real benefits.

The Thaemine Legion Raid has been specifically designed to be one of Lost Ark's most difficult raids yet, with brand-new combat patterns, as well as the new "Clash" system that many players have already found to be one of the game's most unforgiving mechanics. Even so, the crafting materials and rewards that go toward the new Gear Transcendence system should make the arduous fight worth the time. Players should ensure they are adequately prepared before attempting the Thaemine Legion Raid, though Smilegate has insisted that the best way to get better at the raid is to get in and practice it with friends.
