In 2020, the Pew Research Center offered an income calculator, based upon 2018 data, to determine where you are among economic groups. We ran the numbers for households of one to six persons in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metropolitan area (L.A. and Orange Counties). The average household size in Los Angeles County is 2.89 persons (2022 Census estimate). Pew results showed income groups based upon 2018 income data. We adjusted Pew Research results for inflation from 2018 through April 2024 (+20.4%), in order to project income data for 2024 in the table below.

According to the Pew Research Center, in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metropolitan area, 33% of households in 2021 were within the lower economic class, 49% were within the middle class, and 17% were within the upper class.
