The Loader is one of 14 unlockable survivors in Risk of Rain Returns. Each survivor has their own challenge you need to complete before you can unlock and use them.

How to Unlock the Loader

Official Description: The Loader is a high damage close combatant with a unique skill. Hydraulic Gauntlet can be used to rapidly reposition, to place Conduits far apart. Use Debris Shield as a hit-and-run shield.
The Loaderis a high-risk-high-reward character due to his series of close-range attacks. The Loader’s play style requires you to get up close and personal with your foes, but his attacks also push enemies, helping to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed.
To unlock the Loader you have to collect at least 30 items in one run.
The best way to do this would be to use the Artifact of Sacrifice, which allows you to collect items from slain monsters or to circle back to earlier stages instead of going to the final level when you reach the last teleporter.
The Loader’s Skills
The Loader comes with the following skills by default:
| Knuckleboom | |
| Batter nearby enemies for 120% damage. Every third hit deals 240% damage and knocks enemies upwards. | |
| Debris Shield | |
| Become invincible for 2 seconds while also increasing your movement speed. | |
| Hydraulic Gauntlet | |
| Fire your gauntlet and pull yourself forward, stunning and hurting enemies for 210% damage. | |
| M440 Conduit | |
| Place a lightning rod. After placing two, lightning surges between them, dealing 80% damage per second for 9 seconds. | |
The Loader has three more unlockable skills that can be used to upgrade those from the default skill set.

| Charge up and slam enemies forward, for up to 1000% damage. | |
| Short Circuit | |
| Unlock Conditions: Complete the Providence Trial Crash Landing | |
| Crash down and stun enemies in a large radius, for 350% damage. | |
| S260 Circuit | |
| Unlock Conditions: Complete the Providence Trial Colossal Lift | |
| Place a lightning beacon. Lightning surges to any nearby allies within a radius, dealing 80% damage per second, and massively increasing attack speed. | |
