1. Know why it’s so important to build your list.
The thing about social media?
You have absolutely no control over how many of your followers see your posts. Just look at Facebook’s ever-changing algorithm and you will see what I mean.With emails, you have control over when people will see your emails.
Social networks can die any moment. Some examples of social media networks that are dead: Myspace, Blab, and most recently, Vine.
Email converts better, period.
I could put a ton of reasons and go on and on and on… but the bottom line is this: When someone is a subscriber, they are more likely to end up buying from you.

2. Now that you’re convinced, get an email service provider.
