How accurate is the RTC360 scanner? ›

Angular Accuracy: The Leica RTC 360 provides an angular accuracy of 18 inches, ensuring precise data collection.

Leica P-Series ScanStations can tie to survey control, achieve 2-4mm accuracy and have real time liquid filled dual axis compensation to help mitigate movement and ensure level scans. The point cloud from the Leica RTC360 is complete and clean, with no invalid points (left).

The limit of 65m applies for the high resolution only, the regular resolution (still 10,000 lines) has got range of 130m.

The RTC360 has a scanning speed of 2 million pts/sec and the RTC360 LT has a scanning speed of 1 million pts/sec. This is half the speed of the RTC360, and yet the captured scan data is not compromised. VIS is a truly unique system and patented technology.

The Leica RTC360 3D laser scanner collects 432 Megapixels (MP) of HDR images. These source images are designed with considerable overlap to ensure good blending performance. The source images have a native resolution designed to match the highest scan setting at 3 mm @ 10 metres.

LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) systems, sometimes also called laser scanners, have many different uses and ranges. In addition to the 1 to 3 cm accuracy of the best scans for aerial uses, other studies show 15 cm (6 in) accuracy for terrain elevation data in open areas.

What is the resolution of RTC360? ›

By default, the RTC360 collects images in full resolution (4000 x 3000 pixels) independently from scan resolution.

Error 7 is classified as a fatal error on Leica's sheet and means “motorization not working correctly”. That was from Jen @ CR Kennedy. One of ours is a bit crunchy turning, particularly when it is warm weather.

This is because there is not a unique answer and many factors come into play. But we are here to help! For aerial uses such as terrain surveying, both LiDAR and photogrammetry can provide an accuracy of 1 to 3 cm (0.4 to 1.2 inches).
