How Does Kauai Compare to Other Hawaiian Islands?
Every island of Hawaii makes for a great vacation, but they all offer something different. Kauai has lots of rich history compared to the other islands since it’s the oldest. It’s also the smallest of the Hawaiian islands and feels less developed than spots like Maui or Oahu, though there are resort areas on the south and east shores and near the north of the island. Kauai can often get more rain than many of the other islands, so it’s recommended that you visit in the summertime or early Fall.
Cost Between The Big Island and Kauai
You can certainly travel on a budget whether you choose The Big Island or Kauai. The Big Island boasts some of the most affordable accommodations, gas, and shopping, but you’ll be staying in big-name hotel chains instead of the more personalized and attentive local options. Kauai also offers affordability in all of these factors, but attractions are also cheaper than you’d find on The Big Island. You can book a helicopter flight for around $150 or a whale watching trip for $70. Expect to pay more than you’re used to for food on either island, but in terms of the standard Hawaiian food prices, both islands are reasonable.
