From learning to how to cook eggs, to learning how to become an advanced skilled programmer, Udemy has it all. However, what a lot of people underestimated, is that these online courses were actually surprisingly good.
They are available through on-demand video and you can watch them from wherever you want. You can basically watch the videos while you’re on your train.

I for myself, have used YouTube for a lot of things. However, I’ve realized that YouTube tutorials are more like an “udemy preview”.

Coursera, on the other hand, is an online learning platform that offers courses and degree programs from organizations around the world. It offer free and paid courses but from what I see Udemy’s courses are more popular, especially when checking out comparison posts on Reddit.

You will always find critics but as you have clearly seen, Udemy offers some real quality online courses.
The Downsides of Udemy
But, there surely must be a downside? Yes, as you’ve already seen in the comparison table, not every Udemy course is good.
As with all marketplaces, there are bad products, and there are good products.
So, make sure to check out the reviews befor you buy. Also make sure to check out the teachers. Some are awesome instructors but you simply may not like their teaching style.
Other than that, there are no real downsides with Udemy itself.

The certificate itself is clear proof that you’ve completed an online course on Udemy. Usually you don’t get it, if you haven’t done anything.
Now, here is where it get’s interesting.
When researching answers for this question on Quora and Reddit, I’ve found that the majority agrees that it’s worth something, although maybe not as strong as a faculty degree.
Having said that, in todays times of home schooling and Covid-19, things might look different. Online courses have actually found a lot of appreciation through this pandemic.
So, it seems that we can clearly say that the Udemy certificate is very useful. Especially in 2023.
