Does my employer have to take out liability insurance?
Liability (legal) insurance is not mandatory for companies either. You can probably imagine yourself that the need for this insurance for a company is even greater than for you as an individual. For damage that you cause as an employee (i.e., in employment), your own liability insurance does not provide coverage. This is because your employer is liable for these damages.
If you do volunteer work (i.e. you are not employed and do not receive a salary) and damage occurs, this is covered on your own liability insurance. Often it is also covered if you receive a small (expense) allowance. This can be found in the policy conditions.
Is liability insurance expensive?
Often, premium of a (legal) liability insurance is a few euros per month. Of course, this depends, among other things, on whether you choose a deductible, what the insured amount per occurrence is and whether family coverage is chosen or not. These factors are all premium determinants.
Through our website you can make a premium calculation for liability insurance. There you will see that liability insurance is often part of a so-called home insurance package. This insurance package also includes, for example, contents and home insurance. You can also choose to add legal expenses insurance.
