Is ClickASnap Legit? What Photographers Must Know! (Honest Review) (2024)

Starting a photography hobby can also be incredibly rewarding. But, what if you could earn passive income from it at the same time?

With websites like ClickASnap, this could be possible. This photo sharing platform says it pays artists and photographers for uploading their photos, and it lets you sell your work to an audience of millions of people.

But is ClickASnap legit? And do any photographers actually make money with this site?

I signed up for ClickASnap to find out. And my ClickASnap review is sharing what you need to know about this paid photo sharing platform before signing up.

What Is ClickASnap?

ClickASnap is a photo sharing platform that says you can get paid for posting photos. With 44 million viewers and over 1 million photographers, ClickASnap has a large platform of those interested in viewing, buying and selling photos.

Is ClickASnap Legit? What Photographers Must Know! (Honest Review) (1)

The site also claims it's the only platform in the world that pays photographers whenever someone views their photographs.

That's because the site pays premium members when other people view their work. In fact, it says it pays up to $0.40 per photo view, which definitely sounds like it adds up quickly with enough views.

Plus, photographers can even sell their photos and prints online to fans from around the world. If you want to start a photography side hustle, ClickASnap probably sounds like an excellent way to make money on autopilot.

However, there are a few catches with ClickASnap which I'll cover below that you should know.

Is ClickASnap Legit?

Yes, ClickASnap is legit and pays you for sharing your photos online. However, I think it's highly misleading, and it doesn't pay you nearly as much per photo as it makes it seem. And, the fact you have to pay for a paid seller account to make money is a downside.

Generally, ClickASnap is highly rated, and it has a 4.3 Excellent rating on TrustPilot. But many users report that it's a waste of time and barely pays:

It's still potentially useful for amateur and professional photographers to build their exposure and earn some quick money.

However, I don't think it's a very lucrative way to make money online for most photographers. And selling your own prints and digital downloads can pay way more than using sites like ClickASnap.

How Does ClickASnap Work?

I created a free ClickASnap account to learn how the platform works for this review. Overall, it's a pretty simple website that has both free and paid plans.

Users can create a free account on ClickASnap to showcase their photography and share it with other members. If you want to create an online portfolio, this plan is all you need.

However, you have to upgrade to a paid ClickASnap account to get paid for your photo views or to sell your work.

There are three types of premium ClickASnap accounts: seller and pro sellers accounts. Here's what each one includes:

  • ClickASnap Upload+: Lets you upload photos to get paid per view.
  • ClickASnap Seller: Lets you get paid per image view and sell photos as products or digital downloads. This plan also removes ads from the website for faster browsing and a better experience.
  • ClickASnap Pro Seller: This includes everything in the regular Seller plan but also helps you promote your images on social media and through an RSS feed. You also get credits to promote your photo on ClickASnap for more views, unlimited cloud storage, and have priority photo placement so more people see your work.

Again, if you want to make money with ClickASnap, youneedto pay for a seller account. These memberships cost between $3 and $7 per month if you pay monthly, but you save 40% if you pay annually. Once you earn at least $15, you can cash out for PayPal cash.

1. Sign Up

Registering for an account on ClickASnap is free, and you can sign up with Twitter, Facebook, or an email address. With a free account you can browse images and also upload photos.

Once you have an active profile, you can customize your page with a profile photo, banner, and bio. You can also begin building your online portfolio of photos for others to enjoy.

Justnote that users must be at least 18 years of age to create a ClickASnap account.

2. Upload Photos

While it is free to upload images to ClickASnap, a paid plan is needed to earn income. And if you want to sell digital products or physical prints, you need a Seller or Pro Seller account.

Note that ClickASnap compresses files it uploads, and only you, the photographer, has access to the original files. You can sell higher-quality, raw files as digital downloads if you want.

3. Sell Your Photos

In addition to getting paid per views on your images, you can also sell them as prints or digital files if you have one of ClickASnap’s paid accounts. This allows you to sell your images as prints, canvases, or even other types of merchandise.

Is ClickASnap Legit? What Photographers Must Know! (Honest Review) (4)

You get to set the prices for your photos, and this can be much more lucrative than the pay-per-view model. However, you also need quality images that have potential for this type of selling.

4. Cash Out

ClickASnap has a $15 minimum cash out requirement. And again, you need to pay for one of its premium accounts to make money.

The site processes payments through PayPal, and according to its website, you get paid within a few business days after requesting a payout.

If you want to earn free PayPal money, this is excellent news. However, as I'm about to explain, ClickASnap doesn't pay nearly as much as many people think.

How Much Does ClickASnap Pay?

ClickASnap says it pays up to $0.40 per photo on its website, and that its starter seller plan pays $0.7 per photo view. However, this is very misleading, and ClickASnap actually starts by paying you $0.007 per photo view.

At $0.007 per photo, 100 views makes you $0.70. This means you need 1,000 views on your photos to make $7 with ClickASnap.

And, according to ClickASnap, a “paid view” only counts as paid if someone looks at your photo for five or more seconds. This means a lot of views you get don't really count, so it's even harder to make money.

Additionally, reaching the $15 cash out requirement can be tough with such low pay-per-view rates. So, ittakes a lotof effort to make money with ClickASnap, and you have to be consistent and also dabble with selling photos directly to people.

And I really dislike how ClickASnap's website is a bit confusing and makes it look like it is $0.70 per view if you do not read it closely.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • ClickASnap has a large audience of photography fans and photographers
  • Provides an easy way to build a portfolio
  • You can join for free to test it out

Cons:

  • You have to pay for a premium account to make money with ClickASnap
  • ClickASnap is somewhat misleading with how much it pays
  • Very low pay-per-view rates
  • A high $15 cash out requirement

Other ClickASnap Reviews

I signed up for ClickASnap's free plan because I don't think the paid plan is worth it as all. But one excellent way to tell if ClickASnap is legit or not is to read what other photographers and users have to say about the platform.

Here's what some recent ClickASnap reviews from Trustpilot are saying about the platform:

  • “It's a great site to post photos receiving in return small rewards for views. Assistance is very reliable and always ready to solve our problems.”
  • “I'll never make a lot of money but that doesn't matter because the enjoyment I get from it is more important. It is possible to earn there although it may take a long time and there is a forum to help with any problems or questions you may have.”
  • “The idea for such a site is good but it takes forever until you get your $15 and you can pick up your money.”
  • “It’ll take a lot of photo uploads and eligible views just to break even on the £2 a month.”
  • “You have to subscribe to get paid, which is a bummer, and also not what I expected, so if you're looking for a free and easy way to make some extra bucks, this is not worth it.”

As you can see, some users like how easy ClickASnap is to use. But many also complain that it barely pays, so it takes a long time to cash out.

And, one user is unhappy that you have to pay to make money with ClickASnap. This is my main complaint as well, and I generally dislike gpt sites or money-making apps that require paid memberships to earn with.

There are tons of legit online jobs and side hustles out there. And if you're a photographer, you're probably better off selling prints and photos on your own website or getting into event photography.

Is ClickASnap A Scam?

ClickASnap isn't a scam, and it pays premium members when people view their photos. However, it's a bit misleading about how much it pays, and it can take a long time to reach the $15 cash out requirement. And the fact you have to pay to make money is a massive downside.

After signing up for the platform, I think you're better off becoming a freelance photographer or licensing photos yourself and cutting out the middleman.

The Best ClickASnap Alternatives

If you want an easy way to build an online portfolio and a fun side hustle, you can give ClickASnap a try. However, there are other ways you can make money selling photos. And many of these ClickASnap alternatives pay more and have a much higher income potential.

Some of my favorite alternatives you can use to make money with photography include:

  • Starting a blog or YouTube channel about photography
  • Selling your photos with an app like Foap
  • Making money with cash gigs as an event photographer
  • Selling stock photography on websites like Shutterstock
  • Selling prints and other products with an Etsy print on demand shop

I think blogging and YouTube is an excellent way to start. For example, I started my YouTube channel in 2020, and these days, it makes $50 a day in advertisem*nt revenue, and this is basically passive income!

Is ClickASnap Legit? What Photographers Must Know! (Honest Review) (5)

Sure, my channel isn't about photography. But it just goes to show you the potential of making money on YouTube. And I think this route is much better in the long-run than using sites like ClickASnap.

You can also use various phone side hustle apps, like stock photography apps, to sell your photos. And becoming an online influencer is also something you could explore.

Is ClickASnap Worth It?

Will you make money on ClickASnap? Possibly, but not likely a large amount. Even their “top” contributors will have earned only a few hundred dollars total based on the payment for views. After you deduct subscription costs, this might not be worth the time.

If you have quality images, you might be able to earn more money selling stock photography on other websites, or pursuing other types of income such as starting a blog.

Is ClickASnap Real Or Fake?

ClickASnap is a real photo sharing website that does pay photographers when people view their photos. However, you have to pay if you want to earn money, and it's unlikely that most photographers will ever earn enough to cash out.

The entire photo-sharing for cash model just doesn't pay very much unless your photos go viral. And ClickASnap is pretty misleading about how much you actually get paid per view.

Final Thoughts

In this digital age, we take more photos than ever before. Whether you take images for fun, as a hobby or professionally, chances are you have thousands, or even tens of thousands of digital images in an online archive or stored somewhere.

Could you be earning passive income by letting individuals view or pay to download your images? Absolutely. As long as you own the rights to the images and have signed releases from anyone appearing in the images, selling stock photography can be a legitimate side hustle.

So where does ClickASnap come into play?

Well, ClickASnap is a unique concept. And I have to admit the first time I heard about it was when I sat down to research and write this ClickASnap review.

However, after researching it and reading other reviews, it's clear the pay is very low. And I dislike that you have to pay for a membership to start making money.

If you want a passive side hustle, you can give ClickASnap a try. But other options like blogging, YouTube, and Etsy probably have way higher income potential than ClickASnap.
