The target group includes German language learners, students, and graduates of all disciplines as well as prospective students who wish to study in Germany. The courses are not suitable for students without any knowledge of German; a minimum level of previous knowledge (level A1 CEFR or higher) is required.

The International Summer School is suitable for students and others who seek to immerse themselves into the German culture for four weeks and improve their German skills.
German courses are offered from level A2 to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Participants will extend their vocabulary and deepen their knowledge of German grammar. There will be pronunciation training as well as exercises in listening and reading. Participants will especially train their oral and written communication skills.
Projects related to the German culture and way of life will be worked on both within and outside the classroom, e.g., on an excursion to Hamburg city hall.
Students will get to know this fascinating cosmopolitan city and its cultural offerings. Excursions will offer a colourful impression of daily life in Hamburg.
At the end of the course, each participant will receive a certificate.

On request, we can arrange accommodation in student dormitories, with a host family or in a shared flat. Single rooms are also available for four weeks: starting from 550 EUR (subject to availability).
The rooms are fully furnished and include free Internet access, bed sheets, and a shared bathroom and kitchen (self-catering). Please indicate on your registration form whether you would like us to arrange accommodation for you.

Different leisure activities are offered, including a guided city tour, a harbour tour, a visit to city hall, and detailed information on studying in Hamburg.
Extra programmes include a visit to Lufthansa Technik as well as a guided tour of the Neuengamme concentration camp memorial site.
Excursions are also offered to other cities like Lüneburg and Lübeck.
A monthly ticket for Hamburg public transport is not included in the course fee. - Free internet access

Hamburg University of Technology
Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) was founded in 1978 and is one of the youngest technical universities in Germany. The TUHH offers 42 different BA and MA study programmes as well as extensive English language study programmes. For the past 12 years, international summer courses have been successfully held by TUHH in cooperation with IBH. Besides the German language courses for international Master's and PhD students, IBH is a certified examination centre for TestDaF and telc language exams.
