$33 sounds like an international shipping price or an overnight shipping price ... where is the seller?? What Method is shown in the listing?
Even if it is US to US ... I have a small nitpick with your "$6.85" number ...
You didn't mention how much "that little plate" weighed ... But as a seller of crystal, glass and china I can take an educated guess.
An 8-10 inch porcelain plate averages about 12 ounceswithout any packaging.
A Stoneware plate of the same size can weigh over a poundwithout any packaging.
And if you want that fragile item to get to you in one piece, there needs to be more packaging than, say, a tee shirt needs.
Foam, bubble, styro and cardboard ... and the final outside box ... have weight (and cost money).
Most plates that I ship (non-Stoneware) end up weighing between 1-2 lbs when packaged for shipping.
Also, most fragiles sellers that I know ship Priority (speed and insurance)
The Minimum USPS Priority Mail Retail price for a 1-2 lb package is $7.25 ... if you live right next door to your Seller ...
