What does killing a pillager captain do? ›

Pillager captains now properly give a bad omen when killed. Pillager captains now properly drop their illager banners when killed. The bad omen is now only received when killing the captain, not when damaging it with a ranged weapon. Illagers can now properly be turned into captains via tags.

The Arch-Illager, known by his birth name Archie, is the main antagonist of Minecraft Dungeons. He is the founder and leader of the illager empire in the game, and is a proxy for the Orb of Dominance to carry out its goals.

An illager captain (or raid captain) is a variant of an illager. It carries a banner decorated with a unique illager pattern that has a pillager face design on it. They can be found leading illager patrols, captaining pillager outposts, and leading other illagers in raids.

To tame the pillager, you need to break its crossbow. Since a crossbow has a durability of 326, you need the pillager to use its crossbow 326 times to break it!

A player cannot receive Bad Omen when indirectly killing a Patrol Captain. This includes burning with fire or lava, thorns damage, drowning, explosions, and suffocation, among other things. This also includes killing a captain with fireworks shot from a crossbow.

According to the Minecraft Mobestiary, the Illagers were banished from villages for committing "unspeakable activities." An example of this banishment could be seen in The Rise of the Arch-Illager, the prequel novel of Minecraft Dungeons. This is likely be the reason why the Illagers feel such hatred for Villagers.

Usually, 1–3 pillager raid captains also spawn in a pillager outpost. In Java Edition, only pillagers and passive mobs may spawn within a pillager outpost spawn area. Pillagers may spawn on any valid opaque block as long as the block light level is 8 or lower.

Illagers is the collective term for all villager-like hostile mobs. Pillagers, Vindicators and Evokers all are illagers.

Using a Confusion potion and a Golden apple you can change a Pillager into a Villager.

During a raid Pillagers will try to loot chests or any other storage items like barrels and shulker boxes. This would be a feature that would occur on normal difficulty and higher. You would be able to kill the Pillager for any items they looted.

As of Minecraft 1.20 Trails & Tales, ravagers can not be tamed through any vanilla methods. They are an entirely hostile mob, never friendly towards anyone but their fellow illagers. But not all fans agree and have done away with such restrictions through third-party means.

You can do the following once you have conquered it. You can just leave. Pillagers (including captains) eventually respawn. You can use it in a raid farm, to deliberately get the Bad Omen effect to spawn raids to attack a village you have built as a trap, and collect the loot from raids.

Raid captains can now spawn at pillager outposts. Raid captains in outposts grant 1 level of Bad Omen, while raid captains in patrols can grant 1-3. Raid captains grant only 1 level of Bad Omen now. Raid captains now drop an ominous bottle when killed instead of giving the Bad Omen effect.

Once the patrol captain is killed, the player will be alerted immediately that the Bad Omen status effect is now attached to them. This means the player has become a target for illagers and, once that player enters a village, a raid will automatically commence.
