Your refund if your Host cancels

If your Host cancels your reservation before check-in, you'll receive a full refund, including service fees, if you choose not to rebook. Based on eligibility, you may receive Airbnb booking credit that can be used to make another reservation right away.

Does Airbnb refund if a host cancels? If a host cancels your Airbnb reservation, you're eligible for a refund from Airbnb. It can take up to two credit card statements to get your money back, depending on the refund type you choose and where you live.

Valid cancellation reasons include: Circ*mstances beyond the Host's control, such as major damage to a listing, emergency repairs (like a gas leak or a burst pipe) or serious personal illness that prevents hosting.

If a Host cancels before check-in

If your Host cancels a reservation before the day of check-in, you won't have the option to leave a review. Learn more about when you can leave a review.

But what happens to your payout? If your guest cancels: If they cancel either before or after a trip, they'll be automatically refunded according to your cancellation policy. If your guest is owed a refund: Their refund amount is deducted from your future payouts until the full amount is collected.

Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings without a valid reason may experience other consequences, as explained in our Terms of Service and ground rules for Hosts. For example, Hosts may have their Listing or account suspended or removed, and may lose their Superhost status.
