Yes, you are responsible for getting the item to your buyer in the same condition as you advertised.
The easiest way is to have the buyer go to his/her Purchase history, locate the item. Click on RETURN THIS ITEM because it is Not as Described. S/he will need to click on More tosee that option. The seller will need to provide a prepaid shipping label for its return if you want the item back. The buyer prints out the label, affixes it tothe box, and has the counter clerk scan the label. When tracking shows DELIVERED back to the seller, the sellerneeds to refund the buyer within 2 days. If no refund, the buyer goes back to the case and clicks on Ask ebay to step in, to force therefund.
If you ask the buyer for a photo of the damaged item, you can opt to refund the buyer and NOT require that the item be shipped back to you. If you shipped priority mail, it includes $100 of insurance coverage. Ask for photos of the damaged item, the shipping label, and the packaging, and have the buyer set all of that aside. After refunding the buyer, go can log into USPS.COM and file an insurance claim, uploading the photos the buyer sent you. If USPS accepts the claim, they will send you a check. They may want to see the buyer's damaged item and packaging.
