Why didn t my Pokemon bring back coins? ›
The Short Answer
Pokemon GO caps the number of PokeCoins you can earn at 50 per day. When your Pokemon returns from a Gym, it brings PokeCoins with it, but if you've already hit your daily limit, you won't get more until the next day. Also, a Pokemon needs to stay in the Gym for at least one hour to earn any coins.
The only in-game way to earn Pokecoins is by taking down and fortifying Gyms. This isn't exactly “free,” as you have to put in the work to get Pokecoins. It won't cost any actual money, though.
