File and Printer Sharing in Windows 10 allows you to share files, folders, and printers with other computers on your network. Here are a few ways to enable or disable file and print sharing.
1: Turn On or Off File and Printer Sharing in Network and Sharing Center
Open the Control Panel and click on Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change advanced sharing settings on the left.
Expand Private, Guest or Public, or All Networks for the one you want.
Click on Turn on file and printer sharing or Turn off file and printer sharing.
Turn On or Off File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Open the Control Panel and click on Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change adapter settings.
Right-click on the network connection you want.
Check or uncheck File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks .
3: Turn On or Off File and Printer Sharing in Command Prompt (Windows 7, 8, or 10)
Open the Command Prompt and type in the following lines for what you want to do.
Turn On File and Printer Sharing for All Network Profile:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=Yes
Turn Off File and Printer Sharing for All Network Profile:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=No
4: Turn On or Off File and Printer Sharing in PowerShell (Windows 10)
Open Powershell and copy and paste the code for what you want to do.
Turn On File and Printer Sharing for All Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Profile Any
Turn On File and Printer Sharing for Domain Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Profile Domain
Turn On File and Printer Sharing for Private Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Profile Private
Turn On File and Printer Sharing for Public Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Profile Public
Turn Off File and Printer Sharing for All Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled False -Profile Any
Turn Off File and Printer Sharing for Domain Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled False -Profile Domain
Turn Off File and Printer Sharing for Private Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled False -Profile Private
Turn Off File and Printer Sharing for Public Network Profile:
Set-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File And Printer Sharing" -Enabled False -Profile Public
