If you no longer want to store your photos and videos in iCloud so that they sync across your devices, you can turn off iCloud Photos for one device, or for all of your devices. To keep your photos safe, download them to your device or save a copy first.
Before you turn off iCloud Photos
Before you turn off iCloud Photos, make sure that you have all of your original photos and videos on your device. To download the original photos and videos:
On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos and select Download and Keep Originals. Keep your device plugged in to power and connected to the internet.
On your Mac, open Photos, choose Photos > Settings (or Photos > Preferences), then click iCloud and select Download Originals to this Mac. Keep your Mac plugged in to power and connected to the internet.
You can also select the photos and videos that you want to download from iCloud.com. After your originals download, you can turn off iCloud Photos and new changes like uploads of new photos, edits, and deletions will no longer sync across your devices.

However, if you have enabled iCloud Photos (previously known as iCloud Photo Library), deleting a photo from your iPhone will also remove it from iCloud and all other devices connected to your iCloud account. This ensures that your photos are synced across all your devices.
What happens to my files if I turn off iCloud Drive? If you choose to keep a copy, your files will remain on your device. If you choose to delete them, they will be removed from the device but still be accessible on iCloud.com.
This means that they use a lot of space on your iPhone and iPad. With iCloud Photos, you can make more space available on your device and still have access to your entire full-resolution collection wherever you go.
First of all, you need to check if iCloud settings are configured properly on the device. Be sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that you use when syncing iCloud Photos on the same or another iPhone. Else, this feature won't work and your photos or videos won't show up.
Open Settings from your iPhone homescreen and tap your name.On the Apple ID screen, select iCloud > Photos.Use the toggle switch for Sync this iPhone to disable syncing. With the connectivity between iPhone and the iCloud disabled, you can safely delete photos from your iPhone.
When you turn on iCloud Photos, your photos and videos automatically upload to iCloud. They're not duplicated in your iCloud backup, so you should keep backup copies of your library.
