How to change from goods and services to family and friends on PayPal? ›

You can change your funding source/payment by clicking Change next to “Paying for an item or service." or “Sending to a friend”. Click Continue. Review your payment and click Send Money.

You can no longer accept friends and family payments on your Business account. However, if you'd like to receive friends and family payments, you can use or create a Personal account. If you don't use other business products with your account, you can also change your Business account to a Personal account.

Choose “Paying for an item or service” when you buy goods or services. The seller will pay a small fee to receive your money. Choose “Sending to a friend” when sending money to a friend or family member. There may be a small charge to you depending on how you pay or if it's an international payment.

Personal payments aren't covered by PayPal Purchase Protection. You can make a personal payment to anyone in the US for free if you use your bank account or PayPal Balance. If you use a debit or credit card, there will be a small charge for your payment. Go to our Fees page for more information.

Remember, you always have the choice to select any payment method in your PayPal account by clicking the “Change” link on the Send Money page. If you select a payment method with a fee, we will always show you the fee before you send money.

As of July 28, 2022, US Business accounts can no longer receive friends and family payments from US senders.

If the friends/family option is not showing then its either because that option is not available in her country (don't think it is) OR she has a business account which can't accept that payment type. The f/f option is not available in every country.

Goods are items that are usually (but not always) tangible, such as pens or apples. Services are activities provided by other people, such as teachers or barbers. Taken together, it is the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services which underpins all economic activity and trade.

If a seller is encouraging you to send a 'Friends and Family' payment when you're buying a good or service, you should refuse. You could be dealing with a scammer who knows that your payment won't be covered by our Purchase Protection if it's a 'Friends and Family' payment.

You can use personal payments when you send money as a gift, split a lunch bill, pay your share of living expenses, or something similar. We don't cover personal payments under PayPal Buyer Protection. There may be a fee depending on how you make the payment and if it's an international payment.

Most business accounts cannot be downgraded, so we recommend opening a new personal account. If you want to use the same email address that's registered with your business account, you'll need to close your business account first.

Go to your account drop-down and click Settings. Select the Account Settings tab. Go to the Payment Method panel at the bottom of the Settings page and click Change Payment Method. Click + Add a debit or credit card to add a new card.
