However, when you go to the Cobalt Coastlands, there is in fact no giant shadow to be seen. Instead, if you want to catch Giratina in Pokemon Legends: Arceus then you'll need to head over to Turnback Cave in the Colbalt Coastlands. Inside here you'll be able to battle and catch Giratina.

Before players can catch Giratina, they'll first need to complete the main story and then beat Volo and Giratina in a trainer battle. This fight can be incredibly difficult for those who have thus far focused solely on catching Pokemon rather than training them, so a little bit of preparation may be required first.

Use Dusk Balls at first.

Dusk Balls have an improved catch rate when used at night. Double-check that your in-game settings are calibrated to nighttime, so you get the 3.5x bonus when catching Giratina. Note that Dusk Balls work only as well as regular Poké Balls when it isn't nighttime.

Giratina Altered Forme will be level 70 when you fight it. You cannot catch it here, so just work on beating it. You'll be able to catch it later. I highly recommend your team be level 65 or higher for this battle.

Like all Legendary Pokémon, Giratina is tricky to catch, so don't be discouraged if it escapes.

Having a mixed team that features Pokemon with Fairy, Ice, and Ground-type moves (at minimum) will prove most beneficial in this battle and beyond. You also want to make sure you have a tank, like Blissey, so it can survive a few turns to allow you to heal and Max Revive your Pokemon.
