50-50 Grind is the term for grinding on a ledge using both of your trucks. You can do 50-50’s either Frontside or Backside depending whether the obstacle is in front of you or behind you.
Therefore Frontside 50-50’s are a bit easier to learn because you have the obstacle in front of you. This is the most essential Grind and an absolute basic trick, every Skateboarder should have on lock.
1.No matter which 50-50 you want to do, try to approach the ledge almost parallel while you put your feet in the Ollie position and Ollie up towards the ledge.
2.Then try to aim with both of your trucks to land onto the side of the ledge.
For most people it’s much easier to jump up onto the ledge Frontside than Backside.
3.Try to land smooth on the ledge to avoid landing too hard and sticking.
It’s best to have your balance not too far forward to avoid sticking and falling forward, and not too far back to avoid slipping and falling back.
4.While grinding, both of your feet should be on top of each truck to have a good balance with your back foot slightly towards the tail.
5.At the end of the ledge you shift your weight slightly backwards and lift up on the back truck, similar to lifting up and rolling off a curb. Lift up and roll away.
You can come off at the end of the ledge or off the side as well.

Nice one! Now you’re now inside the world of Grinds. You will never forget how to do this basic trick and it’s a good start for every obstacle you’re able to reach with an Ollie. Why not try a 5-0 now?
Unlike ledge skating, this time Frontside 50-50's are more difficult than Backside ones. You'll might have a tough time until you get it right because it's a bit complicated to balance the grind correctly and avoid falling off the coping.

If the backside 360 is the workhorse of jump tricks, I think the backside boardslide is the workhorse of rail tricks. It's kind of a warm up trick, and also a building block for almost all other tricks. For beginners, this is going to be a lot harder than a 50-50, but only because it's new.
A 50-50 grind is the most basic kind of grind. During a 50-50 grind, both of your trucks are on the rail (or other surface edge), and the rail is between the trucks.
A better way to learn, process, retain and remember information is to learn half the time and share half the time. Learn for 50% of the time and explain what you learn for 50% of the time.
5-0 Grind is the term for grinding on a ledge using only your back truck. You can do 5-0's either Frontside or Backside depending whether the obstacle is in front of you or behind you. Frontside 5-0's are a bit easier to learn because you have the obstacle in front of you.
A 50-50 Grind is where the edge or rail being ground is in the middle of the hangers on the trucks. The name "50-50" refers to being half on the edge and half off, with both trucks even.
