The native token on Polygon is MATIC. In order to swap on Polygon, you will need MATIC tokens for gas fees. Therefore, you will need to maintain a small balance of MATIC tokens in your wallet. The native token on both Arbitrum and Optimism is ETH. In order to swap on either network, you will need to maintain some ETH for gas fees. Swaps on Arbitrum and Optimism typically cost a few dollars in gas, but are ~90% cheaper than what the same transaction would cost on Ethereum Mainnet.
