What is a VPN?
A virtual private network (VPN) is used to mask your real IP addresses from the Internet. When a VPN connection is made, the VPN server replaces your real IP address with an IP address from the VPN server, keeping your home Internet connection secure.
What does the Hybrid VPN feature do?
Hybrid VPN is a router VPN client that enables you to apply your VPN provider to any device in your network. You can also choose the games, ports, or applications you do or do not want the VPN to be applied to. This means that you can protect the devices or services that need itwithout forcing the rest of your network to go through a VPN, which is usually slower than a normal connection.

To set up a Hybrid VPN on your Nighthawk Pro Gaming router:
- Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router’s network.
- Enter www.routerlogin.net.
A login window displays. - Enter the router user name and password.
- The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The Dashboard displays. - Select Hybrid VPN > VPN SETUP.
Basic VPN settings display. - In the username and password sections, enter the username and password given by your VPN provider
- In the Provider section, select your VPN provider.
- In the Country and City sections, enter the country and city where you want your IP address to be located (for example, you might selectParis, France if you want to look as if you are in France to people online).
- In the Protocol section, select TCP or UDP, depending on your Internet connection.
Note: The TCP protocol is the most commonly used protocol on the Internet. TCP is more reliable for sending information, while UDP is faster, but much less secure. We recommend using the TCP protocol for your connection. - Make sure that Hybrid VPN is set to Enable on the VPN Setup page.
- Click CONNECT.
Your VPN settings are applied.
Note: Enabling the Block Traffic if VPN Disconnects option disconnects protected devices and applications from the Internetif your VPN disconnects. - In the VPN Traffic section, select ADD DEVICE.

- Click DONE.
- Repeat steps 12-14 until you have added all of the devices that you want your Hybrid VPN to protect.

- Select a device and click ADD SERVICE.
A list of services and applications appears. - Select a service or application and click ADD SERVICE.
- Repeat steps 1-2until all of the services or applications that you want to protect on each device are added.
- Under the Mode section for each device, select Only VPN these services.
Your Hybrid VPN is active and your selected devices and services are protected.
Note: Do not VPN these services is selected by default. Choose this option if you want traffic from the selected services or applications to bypass the VPN.
If you add a device but do not specify any services or applications, the following occurs:- Do not VPN these services (default) is selected: all traffic for that device is routed through the VPN
- Only VPN these services is selected: no traffic for that device is routed through the VPN.
If you connected your VPN to a gaming device that you use in the Geo-Filter, you might need to restart your router after setting it up. For some providers, details might show as N/A in the VPN Information table. If your VPN is connected, you can ignore this.
