Polygon is a blockchain that provides scalable secure and instant transactions with Ethereum currencies like ETH, USDC, or DAI. Using Opensea on Polygon will allow you to create, buy, and sell NFTs without gas fees paid.
But how do you use Polygon on Opensea? In order to use the Polygon network on Opensea, you will need to bridge or transfer your ETH onto Polygon. You can do this by heading to your wallet (located on the top right of the Opensea website).
Can you buy NFTs without Ethereum?
Yes, you can, but not on Opensea. In this case you should already have some ETH in your wallet there, but if you do not, we recommend using an exchange such as Coinbase, Binance or FTX to buy some ETH.
Once you have ETH in your wallet, click on the three circles on the right and you should see a button that reads “bridge to Polygon”. After clicking bridge to Polygon, a pop-up window should appear, and you can enter in how much ETH you like to bridge onto the Polygon network. Set an amount you are comfortable with, go ahead and click “Convert Tokens”.
You will be prompted to sign a transaction on your crypto wallet. We recommend using MetaMask, as it is probably the simplest one and also has an extension on google chrome.
Now, there is a one-time gas fee that will need to be paid on the ETH network. Once you have signed the transaction and it is completed, you should get a confirmation. The entire bridging process from ETH to Polygon takes about five to ten minutes. If it’s successful, you will see a purple eth icon representing your bridged ETH on Polygon.
Now that you have Polygon in your wallet, you are ready to buy some NFTs on Opensea with Polygon.

Go to Opeansea homepage and check out the NFTs available to buy. To find items on Polygon, you will need to make sure you have Polygon filtered under the chains section on the left panel when browsing NFT assets.
Polygon items are easy to spot because of the purple hexagon that is Polygon’s logo. Buying NFTs on Polygon is just like buying NFTs on the ETH blockchain.
Once you have found your NFT item and you are on the NFT item screen, all you need to do is click on the big blue “Buy Now” button. And you can also place a bid if you would like to. If this is your first time purchasing an item on Polygon, you will be asked to unlock Polygon trading on your wallet. Good news is that you only need to do this one time because it’s your first purchase on the Polygon network.
Once you have signed the unlocking transactions with your MetaMask wallet or whichever wallet you are using, your NFT purchase should be processed in just a few seconds. That is it! You have just purchased your first NFT on the Polygon network and avoided all those high gas fees on the ETH network, which can cause a bit of a headache at times.
You can find your NFT item by clicking on “My Profile”, and it should appear in your collection. Again, you can use Polygon to create, buy, and sell NFTs without paying any gas fees, which makes trading a lot easier.
