Hayward Wisconsin is mostly known for its lakes and trails. The Musky Capital of the World, is still considered Hayward Wisconsin, specifically the Chippewa Flowage. Boulder Junction did file a trademark for the phrase, "Musky Capital of the World" however, the world record Musky is still from Hayward Wisconsin which was caught on the Chippewa Flowage on Oct. 20, 1949, by Louis Spray. Louis Spray caught an enormous muskie in the Chippewa Flowage. The fish weighed 69 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 5 feet, 3 ½ inches long.
