How does Roomba 694 know where to go? ›
Everything is controlled using the iRobot app, so you can tell Roomba when to begin, how long to clean for, and when to return “home” to its charging station. Unlike some other Roomba models, the 694 model doesn't have the ability to map your home and learn specific spaces.

The app will let you target specific areas that you want cleaned, as well as set Keep Out Zones. The Roomba 694's suite of advanced sensors allow it to navigate under and around furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect keeps it from falling down stairs.
Keep-Out Zones allow you to designate areas in your home where you don't want your robot to go. Keep-Out Zones can be added to the iRobot® HOME App by adding rectangular zones to your Imprint™ Smart Map.
What sensors does the Roomba robot have? ›
A Roomba contains both infrared sensors and photocell sensors, which work in combination to clean a room. The infrared sensor at the very front of the Roomba allows the vacuum to bounce light off an object to detect its presence, even if it's cleaning after dark and there's limited natural light.
