The Avalanche network's Platform Chain (P-Chain) serves as its metadata blockchain, responsible for organizing validators, managing staking processes, tracking active L1s (subnetworks), and facilitating the creation of new L1s. It utilizes the Snowman consensus protocol to maintain security and efficiency.
Additionally, the P-Chain explorer is a tool that enables users to conduct detailed searches within L1s, including transaction hashes, block IDs, addresses, tokens, and more, providing a comprehensive view of network activities.
NOTE: When using P-Chain addresses, it is best practice to follow case sensitivity.
This view provides overall views of the P-Chain from the latest blocks and transactions to general chain information. To view a narrated overview of the P-Chain explorer, please check out this video.
Details page
The details page provides more information about the C and P-Chain, from validator counts to validator staking details.
Looking at an address
When looking up a P-Chain wallet address, users can see details about staked and unstaked tokens, UTXOs, and transaction history.
Looking at a transaction
When searching for a transaction, users can view details from the block hash, input and outputs of the transaction, and even the staking details.
Looking at cross-chain transactions
Cross-chain transactions happen in a two-step process: exporting from the origination chain and importing on the destination chain.
For example, a cross-chain transfer being imported onto the P-Chain would look like this:

Looking at a Node ID
