Eligibility
In order to be eligible for assistance under the U.S. Repatriation Program (“the Program”), you must be:
- A U.S. citizen or a dependent of a U.S. citizen;
- Referred by the U.S. Department of State (such as your local embassy) to the Program; and
- Without resources, such as money or credit, available to meet your basic needs.
Once the U.S. Department of State refers you to the Program, OHSEPR determines if you are eligible, and you will be notified.
Temporary Assistance
Upon acceptance into the Program, OHSEPR’s grantee and the state provide case management services based on your individual needs. The case manager will work with you throughout your participation in the Program.
Temporary assistance can include:
- cash
- medical care
- temporary shelter
- transportation
- other goods and services, such as counseling, clothes, food, help with obtaining identification documents (e.g., driver’s license, birth certificate), child care, and translation services
