Dragon Age is a series full of mysteries from the origin of the Blights to what role the Titans played in Thedas' history. There are also a lot of mysteries to be solved when it comes to certain characters like Flemeth, Solas, and Anders. One character with perhaps the most mysterious of all is one of the first companions from Dragon Age: Origins, Morrigan.
Morrigan is the daughter of Flemeth, a witch who was raised in the Kocari Wilds by her mother. Much of her own identity is a mystery to herself, as she never knew her father and even has some doubts if Flemeth is even being truthful about their relationship. A couple of games later, the identity of Morrigan's father is still one of the games' big mysteries, and plenty of fans have shared their theories online.

Theory One: King Maric (Later Disproved)
King Maric possibly being the father of Morrigan is a popular fan theory that came about after the release of the Dragon Age book, The Stolen Throne. The book is about how Maric and Loghain ended Orlesian's occupation of Ferelden. At the beginning, they meet Flemeth much like the Warden does in Dragon Age: Origins. Flemeth aids them but asks to meet Maric alone in her cabin. Loghain waits outside, and when Maric emerges in the morning, he refuses to tell anyone what happened between him and Flemeth that night.
This moment in the book led to fans wondering if Flemeth had Maric sleep with her, and if so, that would mean he is Morrigan's father. It was possible Flemeth wanted Maric in particular because she knew his bloodline was related to dragons and wanted that power for a daughter. This would have also made her half-siblings with Alistair.
However, this theory was denied both by the developers and in the Dragon Age comic book, The Silent Grove. The real reason Flemeth met with Maric was to warn him about the coming Blight, and she made a deal with him. That night, she gave him the task to awake ancient dragons with one of her other daughters, Yavanna.
Theory Two: A Chasind Tribesman
A popular theory that has not been disproven is that Morrigan's father could have been from the Chasind tribes in the Kocari Wilds. It is a rumor that Flemeth lures Chasind men to her cabin and sired their daughters, and Morrigan does wonder if those stories are true. Witches of the Wilds have a lot of connections to the Chasind, and it is believed that the Chasind both fear but also have gratitude for them, as they learned magic from them.
Flemeth, in particular, is a witch that is greatly celebrated amongst the tribes. Even if Morrigan turned out not to be related to Chasind, it is very likely other daughters of Flemeth's were related to Chasind. Out of all the theories, this one is the strongest because it is support by lore. However, there are still other theories.
Theory Three: An Avvar Tribesman
Some fans have noticed that while Chasind people are dark-skinned and look like they could be based on Inuit, African, and Native Australian peoples, Morrigan looks Caucasian. Due to this, some fans have theorized she could be the daughter of a different human tribesman altogether, the Avvar. The Avvar are light-skinned people with dark hair, just like her. However, there is even more to this theory that holds up has evidence than just character design.
In Dragon Age lore, the daughter of the founder of the Avvar tribes was called Morrighan'nan. The name bears quite a similarity, showing the possibility that Flemeth may have named Morrigan after this historical Avvar figure. There are still many fans that doubt this theory, though, as its believed Flemeth's looks take after her mother and not her father.
Theory Four: Morrigan Has No Father
Magic exists in Dragon Age, and Morrigan's mother is known to be one of (if not the most) powerful magic users in the series. With magic, there is always the possibility that Morrigan was conceived with no need of a father at all. She could have been born through a ritual or some other magical manner.
When Maric and Loghain meet Flemeth, she is an old woman. So she may have been an old woman still when she conceived Morrigan, which seems unlikely. Flemeth is quite old, so it does make one wonder how she keeps getting daughters. It may not be from natural means.
