You can view historical price, dividend, and split data for most quotes in Yahoo Finance to forecast the future of a company or gain market insight. Historical data can be downloaded as a CSV file to be used offline, which you can open with Excel or a similar program. If the data requested is beyond the range of historical prices available through Yahoo Finance, all available data within the range is displayed. Historical prices usually don't go back earlier than 1970.
Save historical data from a desktop browser
- Go to Yahoo Finance.
- Enter a quote into the search field.
- Select a quote in the search results to view it.
- Click Historical Data.
- Select a Time Period, data to Show, and Frequency.
- Quote data will refresh automatically.
- To use the data offline, click Download.
Save historical data from a mobile browser
- Go to Yahoo Finance.
- Enter a company name or stock symbol into the Quote Lookup field.
- Tap a quote in the search results to view it.
- Tap Historical Data above the chart.
- Select a Time Period, data to Show, and Frequency.
- Tap Apply.
- To use the data offline in a CSV file, tap Download.
Once you're able to see the downloaded file, the options to save it will vary by device. In many cases, you can email yourself the file.
Important - This feature isn't available for all instruments due to data licensing restrictions, in which case Download option is not present.
