However, they are professions that are seen more in some countries versus others. In this article, we will take a closer look at the data involving doctors per capita by country in 2023.
Currently, Cuba is the country with the highest number of medical doctors. In 2023, the country’s doctor per capita rating was 84.30. Monaco with 77.60 per capita and Sweden with 70.60 per capita round out the top three countries.
Other countries who make up the 10 ten countries based on doctors per capita in 2023 include Greece with 63.10, Belgium with 62.60, Uruguay with 62.00, San Marino with 60.20, Portugal with 56.20, Malta with 54.90, and Czech Republic with 54.70.
The countries with the lowest number of doctors per capita are Somalia with 0.20, Niger with 0.30, South Sudan with 0.40, and Tanzania, Malawi, and Liberia, each with 0.50.
While medical doctors may not have a high per capita rating in many countries around the world, the number of nursing and midwifery personnel are booming. Finland, for example, has an impressive 223.20 per capita rating for this type of medical personnel. Sweden with 215.90 and Monaco with 208.30 round out the top three.
Somalia is also the country with the lowest per capita of nursing and midwifery personnel. The country only has a per capita rating of 1.10. Cameroon with 1.90, Chad & Sierra Leone, each with 2.0, and Niger with 2.20 also have low per capita ratings for this industry.
When it comes to dentists, Poland is the country that has the highest per capita numbers. The country has a per capita rating of 10.10. Italy with 8.60 and Germany with 8.50 are currently in second place when it comes to the number of dentists per capita.
Several countries tie for last place in the dentist per capita race. Ethiopia, Dr Congo, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Liberia, Gambia, Gabon, and Guinea-Bissau all have a dentist per capita rating of 0.10.
The final group of medical professionals to examine are pharmacists. Japan is the country with the highest number of pharmacists. The country beats out Spain, which has a rating of 13.20, with its own pharmacist per capita number of 20.00. Mozambique and Madagascar tie for last place with a pharmacist per capita number of 0.10 each.
