The Red Rock Scenic Byway is along Highway 179 that runs from the Village of Oak Creek to Sedona. This scenic highway provides views of Cathedral Rock, Chapel of the Holy Cross, and other natural wonders through Sedona and the surrounding area. If you only have a few hours to take in Sedona views and want to see everything, the Red Rock Scenic Byway is the way to go.

Chapel of the Holy Cross
The Chapel of the Holy Cross is an actual chapel that was designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a famous pupil of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Built in 1956, this chapel sits on a red rock plateau below a multi-hued sandstone ridge. The Sedona landmark incorporates a 90-foot cross that dominates the structure. This chapel is a must-visit and offers the best views in Sedona of the red rocks with famous architecture to boot.
Slide Rock State Park
Slide Rock State Park is in Oak Creek Canyon and is both a historic and natural attraction. Slide Rock is very popular for its natural slide over small waterfalls but is also extremely beautiful during all times of the year. We highly suggest visiting this state park in the winter when the weather cools and there are not so many people looking to cool off. The water looks incredible during the fall just before Sedona gets any snow.
