Things in Korea are not cheap compared to many other Asian cities, but lots of affordable eats, drinks, and shopping can still be found if you look really closely. Today we came up with a list of things you can enjoy for ₩1,000 each. That's less than 1USD! 😮

1. Peanut Bread (땅콩빵)

It's as simple as its name. It's peanut flavoured bread in the shape of a peanut. The prices might vary depending on where you find them, but some definitely sell for ₩1,000.

2. Deli Manjoo(델리만쥬)

Doesn't it look familiar? Deli Manjoos are often sold at many subway stations. I find these fish-shaped ones especially cute! If you ever feel like grabbing a snack in between subway rides, look for Deli Manjoo.

3. Tteokbokki in a Cup(컵떡볶이)

A plate of tteokbokki is already considered super cheap but a snack amount that comes in a cup is even cheaper! Any busy university area has food trucks and stalls that offer tteokbokki in cups at cheap prices.

4. Bungeo-ppang(붕어빵)

These are different from the Deli Manjoos we introduced earlier. These come with fillings inside and are bigger too. The most classic filling is red bean and other options include cream, matcha cream and chocolate. On average you get about 3-4 pastries for ₩1,000. Bungeo-ppangs usually come out in autumn and winter.

Fried with delicious sizzling sounds, hoddeok is a classic street snack in Korea with the lowest price tag at ₩1,000. There's a hotteok stall close to where I work and the delicious fried pastry with melted brown sugar and assorted nuts inside only costs ₩1,000. You'll find hotteoks at cheap prices in any busy university area.

6. Fish Cake(어묵)

On a cold winter day, grab these fish cake skewers at street stalls and you also get unlimited fish cake soup. It only costs ₩1,000 each to warm up.

You can get chips, microwave rice, instant noodles, etc. for under ₩1,000. You'll walk out happy and satisfied with all the cheap items you found.

9. Daiso (다이소)

A lot of you guys have probably heard of Daiso and that they make innovative quality products at low prices nonstop. Lots of brands such as Marvel partner with Daiso, offering brand products at low prices.

10. Exchange Rate

Exchange rates differ by venues, so you want to look around and find the cheapest one possible. If you travel there and back just to exchange money, that also requires your time and transportation fees. Before you go ahead with the trip, look around your accommodation and see if you can spot any automated currency exchange machines.
